Georgia is divided into nine regions: Guria, Imereti, Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Kvemo Kartli, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli.
Tbilisi is the capital city. Other major cities include Kutaisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Chiatura, Gori, Zugdidi and Tskhinvali. Major ports are Batumi, Poti and Sokhumi.

Georgia also has three Autonomous republics, namely Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and South Ossetia.
