Northern Territory lies on the central northern area of Australia. It is the third largest federal division of the country.
The MacDonnel Ranges run through the southern part of the territory, which is surrounded by deserts, the Simpson desert and the Tanami desert.
The southern part of the territory is also called Alice Springs, which is the central region of the whole country.
